A Lil Bit About Me
Misha'el, pronounced Mish- Shy- L has a Hebrew name that means "one who is like God".
Born in Washington D.C. on August 27, 1982 she was raised on the
outskirts of D.C. in the suburban area of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. "I
had what I like to call a Cosby kid upbringing full of love, care, and
chocolate cake." Her dad a musician and evangelist, her mom a singer
and chief budgeting officer for the World Bank nurtured Misha'els
musical interests by keeping her involved in the church choir and
holding "mini family concerts" in their basement. Misha'el went to
Clinton Christian School in her younger years and Frederick Douglas high
school in her teens. She involved herself in the schools choir and
singing competitions whenever the chance arose.
Exposed to gospel and soul music during her up bringing it wasn't until her father made her go to her cousins 14th birthday party that she was introduced to alternative and rock music. "I walked in the door and the band was playing No Doubt's 'Spider Web' I instantly fell in love with the electric guitar and hypnotic beats." After showing such an interest in the music she heard, her father introduced her to music from artist such as Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, and Prince.

During her senior year of high school Misha'el was faced with a life changing situation. Her mom was diagnosed with stage IV stomach cancer and passed just 6 months after making the discovery. Honoring the wishes of her mother Misha'el continued schooling at the University of Maryland Baltimore County Honors. After three years as a theater major Misha'el was asked by her father if she would wish to pursue a music career. Still in pain from the death of her mother and unable to focus on bio and chemistry Misha'el jumped at the chance to create her first demo.
Misha'el eventually moved to California to fully pursue music and acting endeavors where she met several people who are currently influential in her music today. She finished her record entitled "HIGHER" produced by b. krafty and is currently working with him on a remix to Swedish House Mafia's "Save The World". Most recently, she also is in the studio with producer Cory Bold (Keri Hilson Alienated, Letoya Luckett Lady Love) and has found an extension in her creative family with The Senate Music Group. Collectively their chemistry provides listeners with some of the best soulful electro pop dubstep records ever created. Her voice brings you the soulfulness and rasp of P!nk and Alicia Keys while her stage show brings you the energy of the great Tina Turner, incomparable Beyonce and energized Paramore. Having performed at the House Of Blues Sunset, The Little Temple, The Zanzibar and former Temple Bar in Santa Monica, Misha'el is anxious to finish in the studio so she can hit the stage again.
Misha'el just finished a web episode series directed by Brand Vital entitled "in MY element" . She is currently working on her EP as well as a secret project that will honor one of her favorite hiphop artists while constantly writing for other groups and artists.
"I got a job, saved my chips, and moved to Cali by myself. The arts were my only outlet. Through acting I could be someone else and not deal with the pain in my natural life. Through music I could help others by writing and singing things people can relate to or escape to. I have been on a crazy journey in life and there's still road left for me to travel. Feels good to know people want to walk this road with me, just to see where the heck it goes. I consider myself somewhat of a honey badger. Everyone who feels like you don't care what obstacles are in your way you will overcome, you are a honey badger. For everyone that becomes the most fearless animal in all the animal kingdom no matter what people say or do to you, you are a honey badger too. Live God's purpose over your life so you can be at peace with yourself. I am a singer, songwriter, actress, model, film/TV writer, sister, lover, friend... damn I am a lot.."
